The event was hosted by RI State Representative Tina Spears, who guided the morning’s proceedings by introducing speakers and award recipients. Senator Jack Reed was among those present and received the Governmental Service Award for his ongoing commitment to supporting the disability community. Senator Reed also shared remarks, emphasizing the importance of continued advocacy for individuals with disabilities in Rhode Island.
Two key figures from Perspectives were recognized during the celebration: Judy Niedbala, CEO of Perspectives, and Kyle Lemery, a Direct Support Professional with nearly 25 years of service.
Honoring Judy Niedbala: Excellence in Service
We are so incredibly proud to announce that Judy Niedbala was awarded the Susan K. Foote Excellence In Service Award, an esteemed honor recognizing professionals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and creativity in fostering person-centered, inclusive communities for individuals with developmental disabilities.Named in honor of Susan K. Foote, a Speech-Language Pathologist who served at Perspectives for 18 years, the award highlights the lasting impact Judy has made throughout her career. Dave Ruppell, President of Perspectives, reflected on the profound influence of Judy’s leadership, and her moving acceptance speech left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.
Celebrating Kyle Lemery: DSP of the Year
We are equally proud to recognize Kyle Lemery, who was honored as one of the DSPs of the Year at the celebration. Kyle was among 26 Direct Support Professionals from agencies across Rhode Island acknowledged for their outstanding dedication to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Kyle’s nearly 25 years with Perspectives have been marked by his kindness, patience, and commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those he supports.
