Nolan with Bricks and Minifigs owners in Rhode Island, celebrating supported employment for individuals with disabilities.
Nolans Achievement: From LEGO fan to LEGO builder at Bricks and Minifigs, with Perspectives support.

Bricks and Minifigs, located at 1000 Bald Hill Road in Warwick's Trader Joe's Plaza, is a unique spot owned by Byron and Connie Willeford. Since opening six months ago, their shop has become a paradise for LEGO lovers, offering a wide range of LEGO products to buy, sell, and trade. Now, their recent partnership with Perspectives Employment Services has sparked an inspiring success story, perfectly illustrating the transformative impact of community and creativity coming together.

Jaclyn McKenna, a Career Developer with Perspectives, introduced Nolan to Bricks and Minifigs as part of a Community-Based Work Experience (CBWE). Nolan, a young man with a passion for LEGO, didn't just find an internship opportunity at the store; he found a place where his love for LEGO could flourish. He was busy with tasks like sorting, cleaning, and building LEGO sets, making sure they were ready for the shelves, and even looking after a LEGO-themed fish tank. All his hard work paid off in a rewarding way - he earned enough money during his work assessment to purchase the classic Batman LEGO set he had his eye on from the start!

Strengthening Community Through Collaboration

This collaboration between Perspectives and Bricks and Minifigs showcases the essence of what the store represents. Beyond being a business, it's a community hub where people of all ages can share in the joy of LEGO through birthday parties, themed groups, and free community building nights on Thursdays. Bricks and Minifigs is on a mission to strengthen community bonds, one LEGO brick at a time, showing how businesses can play a crucial role in fostering inclusivity and joy.

Perspectives Employment Services is grateful for this partnership, highlighting the mutual benefits of such collaborations. By working together, they’ve provided meaningful employment opportunities to individuals like Nolan, while also enriching the local business scene. It's a testament to the power of community engagement and the positive outcomes of supporting inclusive employment practices.

Building Futures Together

For those intrigued by the world of LEGO and the community spirit at Bricks and Minifigs, the store welcomes visitors every day from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Meanwhile, Perspectives Employment Services continues to champion the cause of helping individuals achieve their employment goals and contribute to their communities. This story is just one example of how connecting the right individuals with supportive businesses can unlock potential and create fulfilling opportunities for everyone involved.
