 How It Works

Each family works closely with a dedicated care team. Sessions are one-on-one, personalized, and take place in the home several times per week. Our approach is collaborative, with families playing a key role in building and reinforcing skills during everyday routines.

Our services often focus on the skills that help children build confidence and engage more fully with the world around them:

  • Language and communication
  • Social interaction and peer engagement
  • Self-care and daily routines
  • Community participation
  • Safety and emotional regulation

 Frequently Asked Questions

Referrals typically begin with a licensed provider, such as a pediatrician or specialist, who completes the necessary paperwork. After a clinical evaluation and approval, services can begin. Families may also contact us directly to learn more about starting the process.

HBTS services are funded through Medicaid for eligible children in Rhode Island. Prior authorization is required. Perspectives also accepts several health plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, and Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island.

Timelines can vary depending on the referral process, insurance approval, and provider availability. Once services are authorized, we stay in touch with families and reach out when scheduling becomes available.
