The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for sensory development, fine motor skills, muscle tone, range of motion, muscle strength, and visual skills of individuals served. The OT communicates, consults, and works closely with parents/guardians, other team members, external agencies, and professionals on therapy programs, goals, progress, and adaptive equipment. The OT also ensures that agency policies and procedures are implemented correctly and that individuals served live valued and high-quality lives.
Broad Areas of Responsibility:
Participating in agency activities, serving on committees, communicating the agency’s values and principles to others; assisting in staff management and leadership; providing training and mentoring to new and existing employees; guiding the work of Direct Support Professionals by setting clear expectations and monitoring progress; recognizing and valuing the skills and input of employees; implementing best practice measures in relation to all occupational therapy responsibilities.

Minimal Qualifications:
- Occupational Therapist with current license in the state of Rhode Island
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT)
- A broad-based knowledge in:
- Anatomy
- Physiology – muscle tone
- OT therapy treatment/goals
- Treatment planning
- Effective time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Prior experience working with adults with various disabilities
- Proficient computer skills (technology systems)
Desired Qualifications:
- 5 years occupational therapy experience
- Ability to work independently and with autonomy
- Experience and comfort in delivering treatment, progress, and goal documentation
- Ability to be flexible with daily schedule
