Paratransit Drivers
The Paratransit Driver operates a variety of agency vehicle(s) and provides door-to-door transportation for people that may require support to safely board and exit a vehicle. This includes loading and unloading wheelchair clients, assisting with seatbelts, and loading and unloading client’s belongings. The driver is responsible to provide services resulting in the safe and timely delivery of passengers.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimal Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license for three consecutive years
- Favorable driving record consisting of no more than 2 moving/accidents within a 3 year period
- Insured vehicle
- High school degree or equivalent
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written and face-to-face)
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- The ability to work autonomously and in collaboration with others
- Reliable and on-time
- Must be able to lift, push, pull a minimum of 75 lbs.
- Must complete 4 hour National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course (DDC-4) on Tuesday, 5/15/18 at Beacon Mutual in Warwick, RI
Desired Qualifications
- Two years of direct experience providing formal or informal support to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Positive and upbeat
- Sense of humor
