Special Olympics took place on Friday & Saturday May 29, 30 & 31. This year’s team consisted of over 85 athletes and close to 40 athletes staying over at URI! Bridges has 4 athletes participating with our team! The team enjoyed great success this year as many individuals won medals in addition to our relay teams efforts in the 4x100! The weekend started off with events on Friday, followed by Opening Ceremonies including the motorcycle, fire, rescue & police vehicles, the fire & police torch runners, a fireworks display and ending with an outside dance! Then back to our dorm for the overnight! Saturday was a sunny day filled with many medals, outstanding performances from out all of our athletes, a pizza dinner at the dorm, closing ceremonies and the dance!

I would like to THANK ALL of our coaches including, Amy Beretta, Kelly Camp, Martha Simmons, Melissa Labrecque, Nick Beretta & Eric Beretta for all of their help during URI and throughout the practice season! Jess Pierson many thanks for all of you assistance this season! Also, a shout out & thank you to Deb Figarsky and her staff for the practices at Ninigret!

Thank you to Patrick and his video crew who shot footage for what I am sure will be another awesome video for the 2009 Summer Games!

In addition, I would like to Thank Zach his efforts on Friday morning! Zach you “Made my Day”!

To all of the Perspectives employees that worked over the weekend and the ones who came to support the team THANK YOU! As you can attest, it means so much to the athletes to have you there to support and cheer them on and you have my appreciation for your efforts as well. Every year it gets better & better!

Lastly, to the Athletes, THANK YOU for all of your efforts in preparing for this years 2009 URI games! The practices paid off, some athletes thought outside the box and tried events they had never done before and all of your overall efforts are applauded!
