NO MORE CUTS: Phone or Email Your Legislator this Week!
In response to upcoming State budget cuts, Perspectives is participating in a phone or email campaign, this week, to send the message: NO MORE CUTS.

We ask anyone participating to be respectful, non-confrontational and feel free to elaborate if the legislator asks about human service work, why it's valuable. State Senator and State Representative phone numbers and/or email addresses are on the state website.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Instructions for Calling/Emailing State Legislators

Contact:

  • Personal legislators – Representative and Senator
  • House and Senate Finance Committee Members
  • Leadership including:

    • Rep. William Murphy
    • Rep. Gordon Fox
    • Rep. Steven Costantino
    • Sen. Teresa Paiva-Weed
    • Sen. Daniel Connors
    • Sen. Daniel DaPonte

Calls/Emails should be brief, with a simple message:

“No More Cuts to DD services”.

If the person on the phone is short, rude or begins badgering you, you should politely end the conversation and get off the phone. Remain professional at all times. Do not yell, swear or threaten.

Please use the list of contact numbers provided on the state website. DO NOT call legislators at home.

If you are unable to reach your own legislator, leave the message:

I am a constituent of ___________________ and I am calling to ask for “No More Cuts to DD Services”

If you are unable to reach Leadership or Finance Committee members, leave the message,

I am a Rhode Island voter and I am calling to ask for “No More Cuts to DD Services.”

If a phone number is not provided or you repeatedly get a busy signal and cannot leave a message, send an email instead.

Make a note of who you spoke to or left messages for and let you agency know as well!
